James Kao
CEO / President / Founder

James W. Kao is an experienced CEO with a successful track record of delivering results in startup and Fortune 500 environments. Over the course of his career, Mr. Kao has raised over $24 million of funding to support several start-up companies. In 2000, he co-founded Managize, a supply chain management company later sold to Escalate, Inc. Prior to Managize, Mr. Kao founded and led eALITY , a business process enterprise software firm. He served as CEO of The Right Sizing Group, a data warehouse consultancy, whose clients included Wells Fargo Bank, Charles Schwab, Intuit, Mervyn's and TransAmerica Corp.

Mr. Kao also played a key marketing role in significantly driving Oracle sales for the HP product business, and also held management positions with HP and IBM. Mr. Kao holds a BS in math/computer science from UCLA and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Renee St. Denis
Board Advisor, Global Recycling Operations

Renee St. Denis is the Director of Product Take Back and Recycling in the Hewlett Packard Americas organization. In this role, Ms. St. Denis represents HP on issues relating to the sound end-of-life management of electronics. Ms. St. Denis and her team are responsible for developing environmentally sound disposal solutions for excess and obsolete Hewlett-Packard products, as well as customer and legislatively required take back programs across the Americas. Ms. St. Denis was instrumental in forming HP’s alliance with Noranda, Inc. to design and manage HP’s recycling centers located in Roseville, California and Nashville, Tennessee. These two facilities manage more than 3,500,000 pounds of obsolete and excess products generated by HP and its customers each month.

Ms. St. Denis received her Bachelor's Degree in Finance at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, and her Master's of Business Administration at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Renee has worked for Hewlett Packard for 14 years in a variety of operational and management roles.

Chris Altobell
Board Advisor, Global Recycling Operations

Chris is the Marketing Manager for HP’s Product Take Back and Recycling organization for the Americas. He is responsible for the strategic development and execution of HP’s recycling services and programs for enterprise customers and consumers including HP’s on-line consumer recycling service various retail programs. Chris has been with HP for 6 years - all with the Product Take Back and Recycling organization, and has been in the computer recycling industry for over 12 years. Prior to working at HP, he was the Vice President of Business Development for United Datatech and a Marketing Representative for Noranda Recycling.

Chris received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration & Economics from Saint Mary’s College and is currently completing his MBA at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management.

Dr. Arun Swami
Board Advisor, Information Technologies

Dr. Arun Swami is currently senior computer scientist in the office of technology at Adobe Systems. Previously, he was principal scientist at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (now PARC, Inc.) where he studied developments in genomics and proteomics and problems in computational biology. At Digital Jones, Dr. Swami held the position of interim Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He was involved in the acquisition of Digital Jones by Deal Time (now Shopping.com). He was co-founder and CTO of Neta, Inc., an e-commerce startup acquired by Infoseek. Dr. Swami was chief data architect at Internet Profiles Corporation. At IBM's Almaden Research Center, he served as a pioneering research team member in data mining and published seminal work in this field. His data mining paper is one of the most cited computer science papers in his field. Dr. Swami holds a PhD from Stanford University.
