GreenCitizen™ and
Palo Alto Hardware Team Up to Clean Up
Convenient
In-Store Recycling for Small Electronics
PALO ALTO,
California—March 10, 2006—GreenCitizen,
Inc., an innovator in the responsible recovery,
recycling and accountability of end-of-life electronics
and Palo Alto Hardware, Palo Alto’s premier
community hardware store, are joining forces to
help save the environment from harmful electronic
waste. Starting on March 18, Palo Alto Hardware
will feature an on-site GreenCitizen Recycling
Kiosk located in its store at 875 Alma St., where
customers can conveniently recycle small items--such
as used batteries, printer cartridges, unwanted
cell phones and CDs--free of charge. The new service
gives shoppers an easy way to dispose of small
recyclables safely in compliance with the State
of California recyling requirements.
Customers are invited
to join Palo Alto Hardware and GreenCitizen on Saturday,
March 18 from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm for the unveiling
of the recycling kiosk. Drawings will be held throughout
the day for gift card prizes.
The GreenCitizen
Recycling Kiosk at Palo Alto Hardware is the first
of several planned recycling kiosks on the Peninsula.
GreenCitizen is looking to provide recycling kiosks
to other retail sites and convenient community venues
such as public libraries and community centers. Larry
and Eric Hassett, co-owners of Palo Alto Hardware,
also plan to install a GreenCitizen Recycling Kiosk
at their Ocean Shore Hardware store in Half Moon
Bay.
“Palo Alto
Hardware has built its reputation on outstanding
service to our customers and our community, and being
a good community citizen means doing our part to
help save the environment,” said Eric Hassett,
co-owner of Palo Alto Hardware. “We are impressed
with GreenCitizen’s dedicated approach to making
sure end-of-life electronics won’t end up in
landfills where they can pollute the environment.
For all of us at Palo Alto Hardware, this is more
than a mission—it’s the right way to
do things!”
“Palo Alto
Hardware is taking a leadership role in combining
customer service and respect for the environment,” said
James Kao, President and CEO of GreenCitizen. “The
in-store GreenCitizen kiosk brings convenient recycling
right to the customer as an extension of the comprehensive
electronics recycling services we offer for larger
items at the GreenCitizen center. We hope more companies
will join us in our crusade to keep harmful toxins
out of the environment!”
