Electronics Recycling Services With On-Site Business
Pick-Up
PALO ALTO,
California—July 5, 2005—GreenCitizen™,
Inc., an innovator in the responsible recovery,
recycling and accountability of end-of-life electronics,
today announced the initiation of business pick-up
services for Palo Alto and surrounding communities.
Businesses within a 20-mile radius of GreenCitizen’s
drop-off center in Palo Alto can now schedule
on-site pick-up for end-of-life electronics equipment
accepted by the company. Available Monday through
Friday, these business pick-up services are an
extension of GreenCitizen’s customer drop-off
center and are available to small, medium and
large businesses.

need to be assured that their end-of-life electronics
will be disposed of properly. At GreenCitizen,
we track each major item we accept to ensure its
safe disposal. We are pleased to extend our services
to offer businesses of all sizes a convenient,
safe and responsible way to dispose of their unwanted
electronics.”
With the new business
pick-up services, a professional, uniformed GreenCitizen
team will manage the safe removal and inventory
of obsolete electronics from business offices and
facilities.
The basic recycling
fee for business pick-up service is $0.50 per pound
for items accepted by GreenCitizen. Television
and computer monitors as well as laptops covered
under the California Electronic Waste Recycling
Act of 2003 (SB 20/SB 50) will be recycled free
of charge. To qualify, television and computer
monitors and laptops must have been purchased and/or
used in the State of California.
Business pick-up
services are charged both on an hourly basis for
pick-up and handling, and on a per-weight basis
for recycling, shipping and transportation. The
minimum standard pick-up charge is $100 per order,
which covers up to one man-hour of on-site handling.
Additional on-site handling and moving charges
are $65.00 per man-hour or fraction thereof. Shipping
and transportation fees are $0.10 per pound of
total weight.
Businesses can
also benefit from GreenCitizen’s additional
hard disk erasure and destruction services. To
protect confidential information, hard disks are
first erased using a three-pass system that meets
US Department of Defense disk sanitation standards
(DoD 5220.22-M) and complies with the Sarbanes-Oxley
Act. Erased disks are then sent to a certified
hard disk destructor where the hard disk is completely
shredded. GreenCitizen also offers cell phone erasure
services.
