GreenCitizen Launches Electronics Classifieds
Service New Service Helps Individuals Extend the Life of Used Electronics
San Francisco,
California, October 10, 2006—GreenCitizen™,
a green recycling company in the responsible
recovery, recycling and accountability of end-of-life
electronics,
today announced a new online listing service, GreenCitizen
Classifieds (http://classifieds.greencitizen.com),
designed to help individuals and organizations
extend the life of used computers and electronics.
GreenCitizen Classifieds is an easy-to-use online
service that lets individuals, businesses, nonprofits
and organizations directly connect with others
who are either giving away used electronics or
who are in need of them. GreenCitizen Classifieds
gives users options to post listings for electronics
wanted, to sell, to donate or to give away.
“We’ve heard from many customers who have
used electronics that are still functioning and
who want a convenient way to find someone who can
use them,” said James Kao, President and
CEO of GreenCitizen. “GreenCitizen Classifieds
is specifically designed to be a resource for used
electronics and offers a number of easy-to-use
solutions. Users have the added peace of mind of
knowing that, if their equipment is too outdated
to be of use to anyone, they can recycle it responsibly
through GreenCitizen’s recycling centers
or through our Business Pick-Up service.”
For those who
have electronics they no longer need, WANTED listings
make it possible to quickly
find nonprofits, schools, associations, clubs or
others in need of used equipment. Users who want
to try to sell unwanted equipment can create a
FOR SALE listing with all the important details--including
the option to post a photograph—to give potential
buyers the information they need. GIVEAWAY listings
help people looking for used electronics find items
being donated, given away or sold. An anonymous
email feature allows users to contact the listing
party to determine if there is a match and for
any subsequent communication. All transactions
go directly through the listing parties.
“Nonprofits are always overextended in terms
of staff and other resources,” said Samantha
Chanse, Artistic Director of the Kearny Street
Workshop in San Francisco, “so we particularly
appreciate how easy to use GreenCitizen Classifieds
is. The service made it simple for us to connect
with a potential donor. And the ability to customize
the ad with our specific requirements helped make
the process particularly effective. From the perspective
of a nonprofit, GreenCitizen’s Classifieds
service is very much appreciated!”
The service
will be offered free of charge. There are no additional
GreenCitizen administrative fees
to pay, and no limit to the number of listings
any individual can post. For now, this service
is offered in the greater San Francisco Bay Area
only.
